Tallinn

Our usual strategy, to find a nice hotel in the historic center of the city, makes automobile approaches challenging, but makes for fine walking tours. Tallinn’s UNESCO World Heritage center has a fine collection of medieval buildings and a nearly intact city wall. Known as Reval in the days of the Hanse, Tallinn was home to many wealthy German merchants. Within easy driving distance of Tallinn is the gorgeous Lahemaa National Park on the shore of the Baltic. Lahemaa was the first national park created in the former Soviet Union.
