Varaždin

Varaždin, located in the northern provinces of Croatia near the Hungarian border, has many buildings from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. A two-hour train ride from Zagreb, Varaždin does not draw huge crowds of tourists. It is a delightful place to walk, reflect on history, savor a drink in a cafe, and enjoy traditional Croatian cuisine.
